MSI began its relationship with Blue Tomato back in April of 2010. Kim and her team took on the tasks of creating a fresh new brand for MSI, including logo design, website, tradeshow exhibit and business collateral, and introducing a new product to the market. Not only did Kim welcome the project with tremendous enthusiasm, she accepted a tight deadline and ensured us the new brand and new product materials would be ready in time. And that's just what they did! We made all of our deadlines and the launch of the new brand and new product was a success.

Most recently, MSI contacted Blue Tomato to replace an agency tasked with a brand positioning/messaging exercise and the design of a new tradeshow exhibit and business collateral. Kim and her team once again took on the project with enthusiasm despite the short deadline. Kim worked side by side with MSI staff to ensure the new exhibit display had the right combination of messaging and design for potential customers to understand what we offer and engage with our staff. And that's just what they did! We were extremely pleased with the material displayed at the event and we thank Blue Tomato for helping us achieve our goals for the show.

  • South Side Pups

    Keep Our PUPS Safe

    broken glass hurts.

    Launched in 2012, the blue tomato-led Keep Our PUPS Safe initiative works to protect Pittsburgh’s canine friends from the broken glass that accumulates on South Side sidewalks and streets. We began with a poster awareness campaign, linked it to a website and active Facebook page, and attracted 44 volunteers who removed 400 pounds of glass at our first Glass SweeP-UP event. Next — distributing thousands of promotional coasters to area bars to continue raising awareness and inspire future efforts!

    A new “design-your-own” sushi restaurant needed to amp up marketing to get their name out there and get customers excited about their unique approach. blue tomato provided the missing ingredients: a bold logo and brand messaging, website, all interior and exterior signage, menus, t-shirts and more. We also consulted on packaging and long-term brand placement. The result? Instant buzz and a company well positioned for ongoing growth.

    A high-profile athlete with a strong desire to give back to the community, Max Talbot teamed up with blue tomato to develop both his personal website and the branding and marketing strategy for his non-profit Max Talbot Foundation. One highlight from this engagement was helping to promote and host a 350-person event that raised over $120,000 in just three hours! We also had artist and blue tomato client Ben Smith of Brush Footwear create unique artwork for the Foundation.

    The South Side Soup Contest is an exciting, extremely popular annual event that typically sells out the first day tickets go on sale. Presented by the South Side Chamber of Commerce and The Brashear Association, and benefitting local food pantries, the new brand and creative for the 2011 event was entrusted to blue tomato. In the spirit of the event, we took on the work as a swap-for-sponsorship project — then developed a very tasty logo, signage, posters and ads.

    For decades, Vallozzi’s has been one of southwest Pennsylvania’s premier family-owned Italian restaurants. When the owner’s son Julian opened a new downtown Pittsburgh location, he wanted to respect the legacy brand, yet also convey his restaurant’s unique identity and reach new audiences. blue tomato helped him balance traditional and modern, developing a visually driven brand to capture the new location’s ambiance, and producing all marketing materials for the restaurant and its separately branded Mattiniero breakfast/lunch bar.
